No one person or design can save education. There is not one solution.
But we can, and we must, experiment with new ways (that often draw from old wisdom)
 to bring out the life in our young people and the communities they live in. 

OUR STORY

Seven years ago, from the rich community and landscape of Floyd, VA,
and the care of those who deeply longed for a more vital and creative culture, Springhouse emerged.
Now, with a vibrant and devoted community to tend to it, Springhouse thrives.

This year we called together a group of community members to explore the question, "What makes Springhouse remarkable?"
From that exploration, the five principles of Sourced Design emerged,
and the Education Design Lab was formed as a place to invite others to join us in the practice of vitality-centered education.

In the Lab, we consider questions like:


What does design look like when it orients around life?

How do we listen deeply to the wisdom of the moment,
as individuals and as a community?

How do we give shape to what we are being called to create
from a place of presence?


When we listen and respond to the moment,
and design something to support whatever emerges,
magic of the most rigorous kind happens;
a magic that this world so desperately needs.

We invite you to immerse yourself in the design, practice these principles, and wait for what emerges in your community.  When it does, we hope the beauty of what emerges will motivate you to take care of it.  We are here to support you however we can.
